Sharon Tiger Techs Team Black Receives Award at National Competition

A Sharon Tiger Techs Robotics Team, Team Black, recently competed in May 2024 at the American Robotics Open Invitational outside of New York City in East Rutherford, New Jersey.  While at this event, the team competed against 60 teams from across the country.  While at the competition, Team Black received the Core Values Finalist Award.  This award recognizes a team that displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit, knows they can accomplish more together than they could as individuals, and shows each other and other teams respect at all times. 

Prior to this advancement, Sharon Tiger Techs Team Black competed against 36 of the best teams in the state of Pennsylvania (representing over 400 teams in the state). Sharon Tiger Techs Team Black received a First Place Robot Design Award, providing advancement to this national event.    

The robotics teams are part of the FIRST LEGO League organization. FIRST stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.” The Sharon Tiger Techs includes students from 4th to 8th grades in the Sharon City School District. They are under the leadership of Dave Tomko and Kelly Roys.  The team is funded by community sponsors and the Sharon City School District.
